Paul Scholes appointed manager of Oldham
Oldham currently sit 14th in League Two, and have been under the control of caretaker manager Pete Wild since 27 December. The move had been complicated by Scholes' 10 per cent stake in Salford City, who are battling for promotion to League Two this season. But it seems the only restriction that will be placed by the English Football League is that Scholes won't be allowed to sign or sell players from Salford City.
The former midfielder supported Oldham as a child and has retained an affection for the club. The Manchester United legend is expected to start work on his first ever managerial role on Monday.
