Overmars, one of the many guests that were invited to Barcelona's event for Johan Cruyff and once a Barcelona player himself, spoke to the press about two of his former players who are now seeking glory in other European greats: De Jong and De Ligt.
Overmars is convinced that De Jong will make a career in the Camp Nou, although he did ask fans for calm and patience so his talents cant start to materialise. "It's still too early to analyse his game at Barça. He has just started in La Liga and needs more time. Frenkie can play ten years here, but we all need time to adapt. The coach should look for the best place for everyone," he said.
In San Mamés he made his debut as a midfielder. In front of the Betis he acted in a more natural position for him, as a full-back. According to Overmars, it's logical that he still doesn't know what his usual demarcation will be.
"This also happened to us at Ajax, you must look for your best position. Knowing which position is the best takes time," he said.
