The German international's current deal at the Emirates expires at the end of the season, meaning that the player will be able to discuss a free transfer to an overseas club in January.
With talks over a new deal at an impasse, it had been expected that the player would leave the club at the end of the season, with a move to Manchester United mooted in the press. However, English publication 'The Sun' now claims that Ozil could be set to stay.
They report that the German wants a significant increase on his £150,000 per week wages, as well as Jack Wilshere's No 10 shirt in order to commit his long-term future to the club. Ozil currently wears No 11 for Arsenal but is looking to switch to 10 in order to boost his brand image.
Ozil wore No 10 at previous club Real Madrid and has inherited the number for Germany following the retirement of Lukas Podolski, whilst it is also a part of his Instagram handle 'm10_official'.
With Wilshere also out of contract in the summer, Ozil is optimistic of obtaining the number, something which would encourage him to remain in the English capital, where he is recently thought to have bought a new house.
Wenger is keen for the player to stay at Arsenal as he plots the club's return to the big time.
