5. Aaron Ramsey
Described by Arsene Wenger as a 'complete midfielder', Ramsey is known to put in a shift at both ends of the pitch. His movement on and off the ball makes him one of the most natural dribblers in the game and proved integral to Wales' Euro 2016 success.
4. Gary Speed
To this day, Speed remains the most capped outfield player for the Wales national side, making 85 appearances and netting 7 times. The midfielder also enjoyed a stint as Wales manager in which the side were awarded FIFA's 'Best Movers' prize for climbing the most places in the world rankings.
3. Ian Rush
Whilst Speed holds the record for most caps, Rush is Wales' all-time leading goalscorer. Instinctive in the box, Rush scored 28 goals for his national side and was named BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year in 1984. With his electric pace, the striker was a nightmare for opposition defenders on his day.
2. Ryan Giggs
After making his international debut at the age of 17, Ryan Giggs would end up becoming a national treasure. At the request of Sir Alex Ferguson, the winger controversially missed a number of friendlies but that didn't stop him making an impact for The Dragons. Giggs won the Welsh Footballer of the Year award in 1996 and again 2006. A ten year difference that is testament to his consistent quality.
1. Gareth Bale
Wales's Galactico is the proud owner of one of the most thunderous left feet in the game and was named the fastest player on the planet in 2017 after hitting 36.9km per hour. Finding the net seven times in qualification, Bale was instrumental to Wales' Euro 2016 campain. The Madrid winger has been named Welsh Footballer of the Year a record six times, winning the award four years on the trot between 2013 and 2016. A football virtuoso, Bale will be remembered as one of the greatest footballers in history.
