Shortly after 12.00 CEST on Friday, Dani Olmo announced on social media that he was leaving RB Leipzig. He is already in Barcelona to process his transfer to Hansi Flick's team. The transfer will be made official shortly.
"A young club, a young player... We grew up, won our first trophies and made history together. Two Cups and the Super Cup are just some of the many unforgettable moments that'll always stay with me. Thank you Leipzig, you’ll forever be in my heart," he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The signing of Dani Olmo by Barcelona was precipitated by how receptive he was during the Spanish national team's training camp at the European Championship in Germany and by his performance throughout the tournament.
The Catalan giants will pay around 50 million euros fixed and around 10 million euros in variables to satisfy the 60 million euros that the German club demanded before their expiring buyout clause was up for grabs.
