The South Korea international has joined VfL Bochum 1848 on a free transfer after his contract with Crystal Palace expired in July.
Nicknamed the "Blue Dragon", Lee Chung-Yong made 195 appearances for Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League and Championship, scoring 20 goals - notably a memorable winner against Birmingham City in the 2011 FA Cup quarter final.
The 30-year-old went on to return to the Premier League in 2014 with Crystal Palace, however failed to break into the team at Selhust Park and made only made 51 appearances for the club.
Bolton Wanderers had been interested in signing their former winger, however he was forced to quit the UK after failing to gain a work permit.
South Korea’s poor performance at this year’s World Cup meant they dropped to 57th in the FIFA World Rankings, making it almost impossible for the 30-year-old to resign for his former club.
