Gareth Bale is back. Tottenham confirmed the loan signing of the Real Madrid star.
Bale has had a largely troublesome period at Madrid over the last few years and was not in Zidane's plans for the coming season. The Premier League seemed the most likely destination for the Welshman and Spurs pipped Manchester United to his signing.
Bale played 203 matches in his first spell for Spurs and scored 56 goals. His performances prompted a move to Real Madrid for 86 million pounds.
During his time in Spain, Bale won 2 La Liga titles, 1 Copa del Rey, 1 Spanish Super Cup, 4 Champions Leagues, 2 UEFA Super Cups, and 1 European Super Cup.
"We are delighted to announce the return of Gareth Bale to the Club on a season-long loan from Real Madrid", Spurs said on their website.
"Initially signed as a 17-year-old from Southampton in 2007, Gareth made his name over six years at Spurs before moving to the Bernabeu in the summer of 2013", they added.
José Mourinho will be hoping that the signing of Bale and Sergio Reguilón can help them win a trophy this season.
