UEFA have confirmed that the Europa League matches between Sevilla and Roma and Inter Milan and Getafe have been called off.
The Spanish government said on Tuesday that all flights between Spain and Italy would be suspended as of midnight on Tuesday to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
In addition, both Getafe and Roma refused to travel to Milan and Sevilla respectively to play the matches. Despite UEFA putting pressure on Getafe, they were left with no option but to suspend the fixtures.
"As a result of the travelling restrictions between Spain and Italy imposed yesterday by the Spanish authorities, the following Europa League matches will not take place as scheduled tomorrow (Thursday)," the statement read.
No new date has been set for the matches and Barcelona versus Napoli on Wednesday 18th March in the Champions League last 16 is now also in serious doubt.
