Julen Lopetegui has taken his first job since his ill-fated spell at Real Madrid after being appointed Sevilla's new head coach.
The Andalusian team first made the annoucement on social media with a video. The ex Real Madrid manager has signed a contract linking him to Sevilla for a three year period.
The club announced their previous coach, Joaquin Caparros, would be leaving the post last May. Since, Lopetegui's arrival had long been rumoured but no confirmation had come until now. The coach's last job was his short spell with Real Madrid, which ended on a sour note when he was fired by the club last October after an embarrasing defeat to eternal rivals Barcelona.
Lopetegui has had an extensive career in the Iberian peninsula, having worked with Rayo Vallecano, Castilla, Spain's Sub 20, Sub 21, Oporto, Spain's national team, Real Madrid, and now Sevilla.
