Real Madrid anounced on their website that the Cas has finally decided to reduce their penalty imposed by FIFA, meaning that the club will only be unable to sign players during the January transfer window.
Real Madrid said: "The decision highlights the injustice of the original ban imposed by Fifa, although the club regrets that the Cas lacked the courage to revoke the ruling entirely".
'Los Blancos' had broken rules regarding the signing of players under the age of 18 and were meant to serve a ban of signing players for two transfer windows, but this has been reduced to one.
Real's city rivals Atletico Madrid were also banned from signing players in January, which the club since appealed. However, no decision has been taken on Atletico's appeal.
