Villarreal have announced that left back Xavi Quintilla has joined Championship side Norwich City on loan. The Canaries have the option to play the player afterwards. Quintilla has been at Villarreal for the last season and a half.
Quintilla, 23, played 23 matches for Villarreal last season, but the club have decided they do not need him for the new season under Unai Emery.
Emery prefers to play Alberto Moreno and two players who have come back from loan spells in the left back position over Quintilla. They are Jaume Costa from Valencia and Alfonso Pedraza from Betis.
The left back, who came through the Barcelona academy, arrived at Villarreal B in 2017 after playing for Lleida. His debut with the first team came two season back and he has made a total of 32 appearances for the Yellow Submarine. He gave two assists.
