Neymar's official medical report: sprained ankle and fractured right foot

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar was thrown into doubt for next month's Champions League clash with titleholders Real Madrid after he was taken off on a stretcher against Marseille on Sunday.

Just 10 days before the French leaders' Champions League last 16 second leg, there was concern over the world's most expensive player as Neymar was carried off 10 minutes from time. The 26-year-old was on his own when he innocuously rolled his ankle and flopped to the ground in pain. He was holding his head in his hands as he was taken off.

On Monday morning, the Brazilian gave an update of his injury with French media reports ruling out a fracture. However, after medical tests were carried out later on Monday, the French club announced that added to a sprained ankle, Neymar had suffered a slight fracture.

"Complementary examinations performed today (ultrasound and CT) confirmed external sprain of the right ankle but also the associated existence of a fracture of the fifth metatarsal," the report read.

An injury that could keep the Brazilian superstar sidelined for three or four weeks, which would see him miss out on the crucial return fixture of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid.
