PSG continue to believe that Marquinhos is vital to the team. The Parisian side, who had been talking to the Brazilian for some time about renewing his contract, finally announced on Friday that they have extended it until 2028.
The defender, whose contract was due to expire in 2024, has decided to extend his contract for another four years and hopes to maintain his status in the first team. This is great news for a player who joined the French side almost 10 years ago.
Marquinhos has become a key player at the club. In fact, the Brazilian is the second player with the most appearances for the club (405) and also the second most wins (291). He is second only to Marco Verratti in both cases, with 413 and 294 respectively.
"I am very happy to announce this contract extension and also very proud. This is a very special moment for me. PSG have always given me a lot of confidence and I also have a lot of confidence in the club. I am convinced that we will continue to achieve great things together in the coming years.
For his part, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who posed with the player holding the commemorative shirt, had this to say. "We are very happy that Marquinhos has joined the PSG family. I remember when he joined the club at the age of 19. From day one he showed great commitment and a winning spirit, always fighting for the PSG shirt. His talent, experience and commitment are exceptional. I am confident that we will have many more successes together as Marquinhos' story with PSG continues.
