OFFICIAL: Marco Verratti leaves PSG for Qatari side Al-Arabi

Just a few months after extending his contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2026, Marco Verratti has ended his long spell at the French club by signing for Qatari outfit Al-Arabi.

The Italian international arrived on Monday night, passed his medical and signed his contract on arrival. The transfer is valued at €45 million.

"Very happy. I can't wait to start this season. I hope we're going to have a great campaign," said the Italy international on his arrival in Doha for 'Alkass TV'.

Unwanted by PSG's new coach Luis Enrique, the 30-year-old was left out of the squad and has not played a single minute since the start of the season.

His time in the French capital came to a bitter end, but the No. 6 left an indelible mark on Paris, a club at which he won a host of trophies: 9 French championships, 3 French Cups, 6 League Cups and 9 Champions Trophies. He also played a part in the club's run to the Champions League final in 2020.

As an individual, Verratti has been named in Ligue 1's all-time team of the season seven times, proving the impact and influence he has had on the French league over the last ten years.

He is the third player to have worn the Red and Blue jersey the most (416 matches) and is set to receive a tribute from the Parc des Princes on Friday evening, when he plays host to OGC Nice.
