Nathan Ake has locked down his future with Manchester City. The club announced on Saturday that the defender had signed a four-year contract extension, keeping him at the Manchester outfit until 2027.
The Dutch international signed for the Cityzens from Bournemouth three seasons ago and has since appeared 81 times for the club. Half of those appearances game last season, where he featured 41 times for the Sky Blues, scoring three goals and proving a reliable and versatile defender, playing at both centre-back and left-back for the treble winning side.
“This is the best club in the world, I have no doubts about that,” said Ake. “Being a Manchester City player makes me incredibly proud every single day. It’s a football club that expects excellence in every area, which makes for the perfect environment to improve."
"Pep is the best manager in football - a genius who has made me see the game differently - so to be able to work with him for longer is a real privilege. I am so grateful to him for everything he has done for me, both personally and professionally", he added.
Director of Football at Man City, Txiki Begiristain declared him "a very important part of our Treble success last season" and believes that "technically, tactically and physically he has everything we want in a defender - and he is so professional, dedicated and willing to learn, which for Pep is an ideal scenario".
