N'Golo Kante has signed a new five-year contract at Chelsea, the club have confirmed.
The French midfielder joined the 'Blues' from Leicester City in the summer of 2016, with his consistent performances in front of the defence providing the perfect platform for Chelsea's creative players as the club claimed the Premier League title in his first season at the club.
Kante himself was named the Premier League's Player of the Year by both the PFA and the FWA and he has maintained those high standards since for both club and country.
After putting pen to paper, Kante told Chelsea's official website: "I’m happy to extend my time with Chelsea, it has been two beautiful years and I wish for more to come. Since I came, I completely improved as a player, challenged myself and got some awards I never thought about. I like the city, I like the club and I am happy to be here for more time."
Club director Marina Granovskaia was similarly pleased with the deal, saying: "We are delighted N’Golo has signed a new contract and sees his long-term future with Chelsea. When he arrived, we knew we had signed a special player but he has astounded everybody with his tireless and unselfish displays.
"Off the pitch, he remains a dedicated professional and a humble human being despite the fact he is a world champion and a two-time Premier League winner. We now look forward to five more years with N’Golo at the heart of the Chelsea midfield."
Kante enjoyed a fine summer, starring for France as they became world champions in Russia and has been ever-present in the league so far this season as the club remain unbeaten under Maurizio Sarri.
In total. the 27-year-old has made 105 appearances for Chelsea since joining the club, scoring four times including a memorable strike in the 4-0 win over Manchester United in his debut season with the side.
His high-energy displays and athleticism have won him the hearts and minds of his team-mates at Stamford Bridge, with Eden Hazard famously commenting that having him in the team was like playing with an extra man.
