Bad news for Atletico Madrid. The Competiiton Committee have decided to ban Joao Felix for two matches after his red card against Athletic Bilbao. The player was booked for a foul on Vencedor and, afterwards, he called the referee crazy, which meant that Gil Manzano showed him a second yellow card.
When he was leaving the field of play, the Portuguese youngster kicked the ball out of frustration. That has led to his two game ban. One for the red card and another for his reaction. Simeone will be without the Portuguese for Tuesday's game with Getafe and next Saturday's encounter with Alaves.
The Competition Committee used the referee's match report to make their judgement. The first yellow was for "hitting an opponent with his arm in a reckless manner after being fouled." The Athletic Bilbao man pulled him and, when he tried to get away, the former Benfica man hit him in the face.
Gil Manzano explained the reason for his second yellow: "Putting his index finger to his head as a sign of disapproval after being booked." Lastly, he said that, when the young footballer was heading for the dressing room, he "kicked a ball with his foot into the stands as a sign of disapproval."
