According to reports in Italy, Inter have paid €5m (£4.4m) for the loan and can make the deal permanent for a further €20m (£17.7m) next summer.
Predominantly a right-winger, the 24-year-old came through the ranks at Roma, before moving to Pescara in search of first-team football in 2013.
He continued to impress in Serie B, leading Eusebio Di Francesco and top-flight Sassuolo to come calling just two years later.
That decision has proved to be a good on, with the wideman taking to Serie A like a duck to water, notably scoring ten goals and laying on five assists in 36 games last season, a return that earned him his first Italy cap.
Inter described their new aquisition as: "left-footed with rapid pace and smart technique."
Naturally, Politano was delighted to make the move, telling 'Inter TV': “It’s great to be here and it’s a really important day for me. I am excited and I can’t wait to start. I want to thank the Chairman, the Club, the directors and the coach, as they all wanted me here. I also want to thank Sassuolo for helping me grow as a player and for giving me the opportunity to come to Inter.
“The San Siro is a stadium that gives me goosebumps and in the past, it’s brought me good fortune. I scored against Milan there and against Inter… But now I hope to score for Inter.
"My idol? For those come through at Roma, Francesco Totti is always a point of reference, but I like many players: Messi and Ronaldo, but also other attacking wingers. My new teammates? Icardi has always impressed me. All he needs is the ball in the area to score goals, but there are also many other top quality players here. A message to the fans? I will always give my all to honour this shirt.”
