Before the team's match against Wolfsburg, Borussia Dortmund's sporting director announced what was an open secret: Mario Götze will not be staying at Signal Iduna Park beyond 2020.
The midfielder, who was a hero of the World Cup in Brazil for Germany, had already announced that he would not remain in what has been his team for years, but now his departure has been made official.
Borussia Dortmund director of sport Michael Zorc told Sky Deutschland before Borussia's Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg.
Götze has played 20 games this season, scoring three goals and providing an assist. His role, however, has been secondary, as he has only enjoyed 599 minutes of play.
