Getafe have reached an agreement with Barcelona to exercise their right to buy the 21 year-old Spanish player Marc Cucurella. Barcelona will keep 10% of the rights of a future sale.
That is what both clubs have announced via their official channels in a brief statement which mentions the signing of the sought after left back.
The transfer has been complete by Getafe for 10 million euros, the amount that was set when the loan deal was agreed.
Despite the purchase option was originally 6 million euros in exchange for 40% of the player's rights, both clubs agreed to make it 10 million euros and 90% of the player's rights.
It is worth mentioning that the Catalans have sold many other players this term including Malcom (Zenit, 40 million), Denis Suarez (Celta, 12.9 million) and Arthur (Juventus, 72 million). They have therefore received 134.9 million euros in sales plus 8.5 million for loaning out to Bayern Munich.
This season, the Spanish defender has made 39 competitive appearances, 35 of them as a starter, and scored once. He has also given five assists.
The Barcelona statement read: "Getafe CF have exercised their right to buy Marc Cucurella and will pay FC Barcelona 10 million euros. Barca will keep 10% of the player's future sale. It is worth remembering that Marc Cucurella is playing on loan at Getafe this season and he was on loan at Eibar last term."
It adds: "A Barca player since 2012, he went through several age group category teams until making his first team debut in the Copa del Rey in a match against Murcia on 24th October 2017 in which he played the last minutes. This is his only competitive game for the first team.
