Playmaker Philippe Coutinho has found happiness at Aston Villa. Since his arrival in the Premier League on 7th January 2022, he has recovered his best form.
With no place at Barcelona, the Catalan club decided to loan him out. The operation has worked out well for the Spanish club and Aston Villa, because, just a few months later, they both got what they wanted: Barça got rid of a player who was not in their plans and Aston Villa got a fundamental player for Gerrard.
Although no official figures have been released, it is estimated that Aston Villa would have paid around 20 million euros to keep Coutinho. The Brazilian is committed until 2026 with the Villains.
Barcelona are thus beginning their 'exit operation'. The money that Coutinho leaves in the coffers will be very useful to be able to make signings this summer. It also frees up wage bill, as he had one of the highest wage bills in the squad.
Gerrard already made it clear days ago that he would bet on Coutinho's continuity and the club is acting accordingly. Teams like Newcastle, also interested in the playmaker, can forget about him: Aston Villa declared themselves the winners of the bidding process and are keeping the Brazilian.

During these months with the Villains, Coutinho has played 16 games. He started 14 of them and scored four goals. He has also provided three assists.
It never quite worked out for him at Barça. He swapped Liverpool for Barça in January 2018. A season and a half later, in the summer of 2019, the club sent him on loan to Bayern, where he didn't work out either. He returned to Barcelona in 2020. In his last two seasons as a 'Cule' he scored three goals in the first and two in the second, hence the club decided to loan him out again, this time to Aston Villa, the club he now belongs to.
