The Bundesliga will continue to be suspended until 30th April at least. The possibility of resuming matches later on behind closed doors is being studied.
Of course we are looking for the way to resuming playing. But it is not realistic imagine playing in front of spectators this season," the DFL president Christian Seifert said in a press conference. This came after a video conference was held with the clubs.
The decision to further suspend the season affects the 36 professional teams in Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2. "We have to wait for it to be possible again to play matches with certain normality," Seifert said. That is not the case at the moment "not only from a footballing point of view also from the people's view," he continued.
The season was interrupted in the middle of March until 2nd April, the DFL recommended back on 24th March for the league's suspension to be extended until 30th April and now it has been approved. The approval has been given despite the economic difficults that will mean for many clubs.
