The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has announced Jorge Sampaoli will not continue as national team head coach following a chaotic World Cup.
The 'Albiceleste' first struggled to qualify for the tournament in Russia, before barely escaping from a group contraining Nigeria, Iceland and Croatia.
Despite having reached the final four years ago, Argentina's march was ended by eventual winners France this time around in the last 16 amid claims of dressing room revolts against Sampaoli.
With the country in crisis following their dismal performances Sampaoli has now been let go, with the Argentine Football Federation announcing on Sunday that a mutual agreement between the parties had been reached.
According to daily 'Olé', Sampaoli initially demanded €4m in compensation to leave his post, before later accepting half that figure.

"The Argentina Football Association and Jorge Sampaoli have come to a mutual agreement to end his time in charge of the Argentine national team," read an AFA statement.
"Fitness coach Jorge Desio and video analyst Matías Manna have also been released from their contracts.
"The Association thanks them for their efforts during their time with the national team."
Argentina have now hired and fired three coaches in as many years. That streak started with 'Tata' Martino, who had his contract rescinded after losing two Copa America finals. Edgardo Bauza was next, but he only lasted eight games before being replaced by Sampaoli who has now followed the same path of failure as his predecessors.
