It is not the Real he was after, but at least it is a Real. That is what the Norwegian central midfielder must be thinking. He has been trying to get into the Real Madrid first team on a regular basis for years, but he has still had no success.
Despite his good performances outside Spain, Real Madrid do not think he quite has the quality yet so they will once again send him out on loan. This is something they have been doing for various years.
And here is where Real Sociedad enter the fray. Apparently, the Norwegian went to Anoeta's facilities after having been in Leverkusen visiting the club and negotiating his future.
After rumours came out last Friday that Odegaard will sign for Real Sociedad, various media outlets reported that the Norwegian had spent the whole day in San Sebastian visiting the club's facilities.
'AS' says that his agent, Bjorn Tore Kvarme, an ex-Real Sociedad player, has offered the player to Real Sociedad after seeing Odegaard hesitating over a move away from La Liga again.
Apparently, Odegaard reached in the morning via Bilbao, he vistited the training facilities at Zubieta and the Anoeta construction work. Afterwards, he sat down to spoke to the president Jokin Aperribay, and the director of football, Roberto Olabe, over the option of playing on loan at Real Sociedad.
