1 - 113 matches without conceding
Oblak's value to Atletico Madrid is indisputable. There is no doubt in his qualities, performance or numbers, with 113 games without conceding a goal from his 200 official club appearances. This proves how essential he is to his team, who would have lost many more matches without his key saves.
In his second match, after a frustrating debut against Olympiacos (3-2), he claimed his first clean sheet on 3 December 2014 in a 3-0 win at Hospitalet.
He is the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in each of the last four seasons of LaLiga Santander, including the current one. He has played 113 matches without conceding. That's 56 per cent of his 200 matches. Neither Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Thibaut Courtois, Gianluigi Buffon, Iker Casillas nor Manuel Neuer, for example, have achieved such a record in the five seasons, including the current one. This is why Atletico are reluctant to let him go.
2 - Just 33 defeats
Although his debut ended in a 3-2 loss to Olympiacos, Atletico Madrid have only lost 33 of the 200 games in which the Slovenian goalkeeper has been in goal - just 16.5% - which also tangibly indicates just how valuable he is.
By seasons, among all the competitions, the defeats are distributed as five in 2014-15, nine in 2015-16, six in 2016-17, eight in 2017-18 and the six from the current campaign. Among them the most extensive defeat that he has ever conceded with Atletico: the 4-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund on October 24th last year.
18 of his 46 opponents have registered a defeat against Oblak. Barcelona are of course leading this statistic, with eight wins, followed by Villarreal and Real Madrid, with three. Next up are Espanyol, Real Sociedad and Bayern Munich with two, and Chelsea, Sporting Gijon, Sporting Lisbon, Olympiakos, Sevilla, Celta, Malaga, Levante, Benfica, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Athletic and Betis all with one.
3 - Three titles with Atlético
Throughout his five seasons at Atletico, including the current one, Jan Oblak has won three titles, the first of which was the Spanish Super Cup in the summer of 2014 against Real Madrid, although in that case he played both clashes as a substitute.
He won the other two trophies, both the European League and the continental Super Cup in 2018 having started both matches, as the undisputed star in Diego Simeone's squad and a key player in achieving such titles, either in the journey to the final or in the final match.
4 - 50% penalty success
Not counting the penalty shootouts, of which the goalkeeper has contested three with Atletico (two successfully - against Bayer Leverkusen and PSV Eindhoven - and one not, in the final of the 2016 Champions League against Real Madrid in San Siro) only 50% of penalties against him were scored.
Only eight opponents have scored a penalty against Oblak: Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo; William Jose, twice, and Carlos Vela, with Real Sociedad; Paco Alcácer, with Valencia; and Sergio Canales, with Betis. Messi failed to do so in the quarter-finals of the 2014-15 King's Cup as well as Thomas Muller in the semi-finals of the 2015-16 Champions League.
5 - Real Madrid, the team that has scored the most goals against him
Of the 130 goals Atletico have conceded in their history, Real Madrid are the opponents who have scored against them the most, with 19 goals in 16 matches, the most recent being the derby at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium with a 3-1 defeat. The second is Barcelona, with 16 goals in 11 matches.
Of the 87 matches in which Oblak has conceded goals, there was one in which he conceded four goals against Borussia Dortmund; in seven matches he conceded three times (once against Real Madrid and once against Barcelona, Olympiacos, Real Sociedad and Juventus; in 25 he conceded two and in 54 he conceded one.
