Notable by their absence

Real Madrid played their fourth game of the season against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday. Time is passing, and so far three of the four signings they made over the summer (Vinicius, Odriozola, Mariano) have not played a single minute.

The only new arrival at the Bernabeu who has seen time on the pitch is Courtois. The rest, for now, have not had the opportunity to play in the famous white shirt.

The three absentees were not given a chance against Bilbao either. Vinicius was not called up into the squad, while Odriozola and Mariano remained on the bench, leaving their minutes still on zero.

However, it shouldn't be long before they begin to feature in some first team action. With the Champions League coming back, Real Madrid are facing a run of six games in little over three weeks Lopetegui will surely have to start rotating his squad.

At San Mames, the most surprising was the non-introduction of Mariano. Real Madrid were behind in the game following Iker Muniain's opening goal, and despite Isco bringing them back level, they were not able to find a winner.

Lopetegui went as far as to withdraw Gareth Bale, but it was Lucas Vazquez who came on rather than the Dominican striker. As such, Real Madrid fans are still waiting to see their new boys in action.
