"Nobody looks out for the player, we have no say"

Inter Miami's Sergio Busquets showed his support for a possible players' strike to protest against an increasingly overloaded fixture schedule.

“The schedule has been increasing. I think that on a physical level the players are more prepared, but they also have more wear and tear and the games are much more intense. Even though we are the protagonists, we have a very very small role in terms of what tournaments are played, how many matches per tournament.... I think that should be a joint work, also listening to the players,” the Spaniard argued to the media.

“In the end, the body comes a time when it says enough is enough, that there are many, many injuries, but no one looks out for the player. I think that if they decide to go on strike, they will have to go because it's the only way to make themselves heard, otherwise it's like we have no say and it's worrying, to be honest,” he added.

Busquets and Inter Miami are aiming to win the MLS Supporters' Shield but will have to overcome a tough challenge against Columbus Crew in the MLS Matchday 35.
