A new football is coming to Spain. A football with novelties, on the pitch, and ahead of the television retransmission. A football with social distancing, but in which there will be no punishment for violating it.
La Liga has decided that they will not book players who spit on the pitch. 'Marca' says that, rules in hand, it would be possible to do it, but that it will be limited to recommending that they avoid it.
That is what has been done in Germany, and it is working. Although some people forget, many have abandoned the habit. What German football hasn't achieved is avoiding contact with celebrations.
There will be no bookings in Spain either for it, but again players will be urged to set an example and leave the effusive hugs for another time.
Social distancing will be kept on the bench, and that will have its reflection on the pitch: there will be no handshakes or greeting between the captains and the referee.
There will be 5 subs per team, to be carried out in three different pauses, and squads of 23 players. Wednesday's Rayo v Albacete will be a kind of hybrid between the old and the new rules, and the first 100% post-season match will be Thursday's Sevilla v Betis.
