Carrasco will be unable to provide certain things which Cavani has. He is not an out and out goalscorer in the box and he is not playing as regularly as Cavani.
The Uruguayan striker has been much more active and has been playing in one of the five major leagues despite not having as many minutes as he would have liked. Five goals and an assist in 14 appearances are his stats up to now.
Carrasco has not played an official match since December, that is to say, since the Chinese Super League finished. At least the footballer has continued to train on his own to remain fit and be in the best possible state if any club came along.
According to 'AS', Simeone remains confident of getting Carrasco back to his best. The Belgian has quality and showed that, but inconsistency meant he ended up leaving Atletico.
In fact, the Argentine coach has been speaking with the player for days with the aim of explaining to him what he wants for the rest of the season. If he earned himself a spot in the XI and played well, Atletico would then try and sign him for a longer period of time.
There are doubts over whether this would be a good signing, but if it workds, Simeone would have a bold and pacy player at his disposal. It would be a risk, but it could be one well worth taking.
