He left Barca to avoid being in Messi's shadow and win the Ballon D'or. Today, the magazine which gives that prize, dedicates this front page to him. However, it was not one which dreamt of, quite the opposite.
There is nothing positive about it at all. In the photo, he looks lost, is wearing a cap and the headline is damning: "Neymar, what a waste!" The subtitles are critical as well: "A career brought to a standstill, a deteriorated image, a transfer which has hit a road block."
The headline is not deceptive and inside it is equally as damning. The prestigious football magazine, if not the most, analyses what they consider to be the beginning of the end of his career.
"And if Neymar was already on a downward curve?" 'France Football put all the cards on the table including the careers of other Brazilian stars in history to see if if now seems a disaster for Ney," they say. They also include a snippet of an interview with Marcos Ceara, another Brazilian who played for five years at Parc des Princes.
In recent weeks, especially since his return to Paris assuring that he does not want to continue anymore under the orders of Tuchel, the big French media outlets have criticised him greatly. Even in Brazil, they are fed up of him.
Everything is becoming a mess and Neymar needs to leave the club in order for normality to return to PSG. Nevertheless, the latest reports are not so positive and they are saying that the Emir of Qatar himself has ordered Neymar not to be sold.
That said, Barcelona and Real Madrid have still got him on their agenda and activity is predicted from now until 2nd September, the day the transfer window closes. Barca are especially likely to try and get him after Messi latest request to the board.
