It seems like the Premier League clubs have reached an agreement on when to resume the season. Several British media outlets said this Thursday that there will be football next month. Although the season will properly start on 20th June, there will be a couple of games before that.
'The Telegraph' says that the season will resume on Wednesday 17th June with Aston Villa v Sheffield United and Manchester City v Arsenal. That way, everyone would then have played the same number of games.
One of the encounters on the weekend could be brought forward to Friday 19th. That weekend, the season will properly get back underway.
The clubs have apparently held a vote remotedly and the majority have said that the penultimate weekend in June is the best option. There would be less than a month and a half to complete the 92 matches left.
The bad news is that clubs would have just three weeks training left. They have just begun contact training which allows tackling.
This news comes in the middle of players and club staff testing positive at clubs in recent days. There were four in the last set of tests.
Last Tuesday, there was a telemeeting which saw clubs agree to contact training, that was officially approved on Wednesday and on Thursday some clubs, like Newcastle, began doing it.
However, each club will decide by themselves when to up their training. England is currently on Phase 2, which allows sports events behind closed doors.
