Neuer celebrates his 400th match by saving a point for Bayern

Manuel Neuer was already in the limelight this Saturday for his 400th game for Bayern Munich, but it ended up being for two reasons. With two saves, the German rescued a draw (1-1) against Werder Bremen.

This time Lewandowski did not appear to take the three points from Bayern Munich, but Manuel Neuer, in his 400th game with the Bavarians, ensured Hansi Flick's team a tight 1-1 draw against a tough Werder Bremen.

After two consecutive matches scoring before the international break, the Polish striker couldn't work his normal magic. Pavlenka and his Werder were denied a draw: five in a row, all 1-1, since 17 October.

Meanwhile, the Bavarians are putting the brakes on their winning streak, which had been going on despite some ups and downs since their 4-1 loss to Hoffenheim on 27 September. And as we said, Neuer had to appear to save that point which will ensure their leadership no matter what RB Leipzig does.

The first blow was struck by Werder Bremen, on a poorly defended throw-in by Bayern. Sargent overtook Kimmich, stepped into the area and served at Eggestein's arrival from the second line, between Goretzka and the centre-halves.

But Werder Bremen could have gone away with all three points had it not been for two interventions by Neuer. The first one from Sargent in the six-yard box, and another one in the 86th with cat-like reflexes.
