David De Gea, Thibaut Courtois, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Jan Oblak, Karlo Letica and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen have all been linked with the Madrid goalkeeping position, some of them for numerous years.
However, the sticks are firmly defended game after game by Keylor Navas who has played 30 matches already this season, divided into La Liga (20), Champions League (6), Copa del Rey (1), European Super Cup (1) and Spanish Super Cup (2), in which he has played the full 90 minutes in each.
The player tipped the most to be Madrid's new shotstopper has been Manchester United's De Gea, who as a Spain international, would be a perfect fit for one of their biggest clubs.
Nonetheless, he looks happy in the Premier League and instead it has led to growing speculation that Florentino Perez could opt for a younger alternative: Croatian goalkeeper Karlo Letica, who although has only played 10 games for Hajduk Split, is expected to become a formidable shotstopper in the future.
Whichever way Madrid decide to go in their hunt for a new goalkeeper, Keylor Navas will still be there, between the sticks, posting brilliant performances for the Spanish giants to show that he can still make it as their No. 1.
