Napoli will not be able to play Champions League football in San Paolo

Napoli will be forced to play their Champions League matches next season 570 kilometres away at Renato Dall'Ara Stadium, in Bologna.

The Italian Football Federation stated on its website the list of top-level UEFA Licences for the 2019-20 season, realizing that San Paolo will not meet the criteria for the top continental competition.

Even so, the footballing body added that clubs "that have not been granted the license" can submit a "justified appeal to the UEFA Licensing Commission, no later than five days after notification"

In this way, the Napoli squad will have no choice but to begin to refurbish a San Paolo that has become obsolete, far removed from UEFA requirements.

A severe setback for the Serie A runners-up, who will have to displace their fans more than 500 miles away, and levaing their famous stadium in the process.
