Sala, 28, has been in incredible form so far this season, with 12 goals in 13 games. His impressive goal return has attracted interest from Everton, Wolves, West Ham and Fulham in the Premier League.
Fulham are one of the favourites to land Sala, with the Argentine having played under new 'Cottagers' manager Claudio Ranieri last season.
Many of the interested parties believed they could obtain the Argentine forward's signature for around £10m, but Nantes' owner Waldemar Kita is holding out for more than double that amount.
Everton are said to be looking to bring in a clinical finisher in January, with Cenk Tosun struggling to hit the target in recent months, while rivals Wolves and West Ham have a number of targets across Europe.
Wolves are also reportedly interested in Liverpool's out-of-favour striker Divock Origi, while West Ham have enquired about Kostas Mitroglou at Marseille.
