RB Leipzig are being one of the great sensations of the current season. The German outfit are 2nd in the league, with Bayern Munich, in 1st, just one point above them.
One of the architects of the good moment of the team is the manager, Julian Nagelsmann. The 32-year-old is catching the attention of several big clubs and Real Madrid already noted him on their agenda in the summer of 2018.
Los Blancos wanted the German to take charge of the team, but the current RB Leipzig boss rejected the offer. On Thursday, he revealed the reason he rejected it in an interview with 'The Independent".
"At first I was surprised, I weighed it up and was not comfortable with the decision to go there. I want to improve and if you go to Real Madrid immediately, there is no time to improve as a coach", he said.
Nagelsmann said that he still doesn't feel prepared to take on a project such as Real Madrid: "You don't get to be better, you have to be the best already. I'm not the best right now, but I admit that I want to be one of the best in the future".
"If you go to Real Madrid or Barcelona, the fans, the media and the decision-makers don't give you time to become the best. They just want to win every game, titles, win the Champions League... If you don't win, you can't argue that you are still young and developing. In the world of football it's not easy to plan a career, because it's very unpredictable, but you have to try", the RB Leipzig manager added.
In addition, the German assured that the main thing "is to take the right steps, not big steps". "Real Madrid are probably one of the highest steps you can take, so I thought: you turn 31, you go to Real and from there to where?", he added.
