Nacho will stay at Real Madrid: Ancelotti counts on him

Nacho has been at Real Madrid all his life and that is not going to change. The youth academy player seemed to be close to leaving the club with the arrival of Antonio Rudiger this summer, but Carlo Ancelotti lined him up as a starter against Almeria. Adding this to the role he gave him last season, the newspaper 'Marca' considers his continuity in the 'Merengue' team as a given.

About a month ago, he was rumoured to be on the move to Jose Mourinho's Roma as an alternative to the tough competition at the Santiago Bernabéu, but he passed the first round with flying colours. He was a key part of the comeback against Almeria at a Power House Stadium where the win ended in the visitors' favour thanks to a David Alaba free-kick goal.

Nacho has a contract until 2023 and is one of those professionals who, without being in the spotlight, work hard for the Spaniards' success. He has moved between various roles without complaint - he played a key role, for example, in the 2017-18 campaign, but was unable to get much playing time in 2019-20 - and has always been willing to give his all.

It is also worth considering that his sale would not generate too much revenue for Real Madrid. With this situation and thanks to how happy Carlo Ancelotti is with him, the defender is having an ideal start to the season. Maybe, in a few months' time, there will be talk of his renewal.
