"My challenge on Morata? I'm not proud of it"

There are certain incidents which are remembered by all. One of those was the challenge Fede Valverde made on Alvaro Morata.
In the Spanish Super Cup, the referee sent him off for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Fede Valverde talked to 'ABC' about that challenge. "I'm not proud of fouling an opponent. I don't know anyone who likes making fouls. But I really wouldn't have been happy with myself if I had done nothing for my team in that attack and in all of them," he said.
"It was a normal foul, I didn't want to hurt Morata, of course. but I owe it to my club," he continued.
He also gave his opinion on how football will be after the coronavirus break. "The essence of the game will not change, but it will change our way of experiencing it from outside, our way of watching it. I'm going to really miss matches in front of spectators. It's all going to be very different and strange. We will have to get used to it," he expressed.
Valverde admitted errors which caused Real Madrid to lose top spot in the league prior to the coronavirus break. "It would be next to win La Liga. This year is being very difficult for everyone and especially for those who have lost a loved one. We are two points off the lead and we have to do a great job to make up the deficit," he pointed out.
The Uruguayan midfielder would find it unfair if Barcelona were crowned champions before the 38 games were played. "The nicest thing would be to end LaLiga and know who the real champion is after 38 games."
Lastly, he spoke about the Champions League and he is hopeful Real Madrid can play the second leg of the last 16 tie in Manchester and turn the deficit around. "I hope we can play that game in two months time. That would be a victory for everyone. Travelling abroad to play a game would mean a lot of things for all sectors of society. We can fight back because anything is possible with Real Madrid. It's soon to think about that, but we can win anything however hard it is," he concluded.
