Much-changed Liverpool stunned by Union Saint-Gilloise

Liverpool, who started the match against Union Saint-Gilloise with unusual faces in the starting eleven, were stunned 2-1 by the Belgian side, who desperately needed the points, unlike the Reds, who were already qualified for the Europa League last 16 as group winners.

The home side went into the break with the lead after an even first-half. Amoura put the Belgian team ahead and minutes later his goal was cancelled out by Quansah's equaliser. However, the home side struck again through Puertas, who restored the home side's lead.

The Belgian side looked to have put the game to bed in the second half when Puertas beat Kelleher for the second time but the goal was disallowed for handball. The Reds tried to score an equaliser before the end but Moris finally kept them at bay.

As a result, Jurgen Klopp's side will play in the last 16 after finishing as group winners while Toulouse will play in the play-offs after finishing second by beating LASK away from home. The Belgian team, sitting third with 8 points, advance to the Conference League play-offs thanks to their win over the Premier League side.
