The 'Red Devils' didn't make it easy for themeselves on Tuesday night, and had to wait for a 89th minute Marouane Fellaini goal to win the match.
While they have now qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League, Sutton does not think that the difficulties at Old Trafford are anywhere near ending.
"Now the pressure is off, but it is becoming clear that the odd good result does not affect the underlying issues at Old Trafford." Sutton told the 'BBC'.
"You are always left asking the same questions - and the answers don't change, even when United win.
"So, although they are safely through in Europe, there is no way they look like potential winners. When you look at the top teams in that competition, then United are miles behind."
