The English team took David de Gea to the podium of the highest paid Spanish players in the world. Only Andres Iniesta has a higher salary than the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper.
According to 'Marca', his salary will be 15 million pounds a year, which could surpass 20 million with a series of yearly bonuses that are included in his contract.
Former 'Red Devils' coach Jose Mourinho told 'Sky Sports' that he did not understand the renewal: "De Gea is a good goalkeeper, but I don't understand why Manchester United had such pressure at this moment in time to offer such extraordinary conditions."
"Two years ago everyone was after him and it would have been logical to offer him this incredible contract, but now most of the doors of the big clubs are closed," the Portuguese stated.
