'Morata should start against Barcelona'

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard believes that 'blues' boss Antonio Conte should start Alvaro Morata up front when Chelsea face Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.

The Premier League champions take on the La Liga pacesetters in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with the game finely poised at 1-1.

Depsite now having both Morata and January signing Olivier Giroud to choose from up front, Conte has often opted not to field a recognised striker, instead playing a more fluid three with Eden Hazard the focal point of the attack.

However, Lampard believes that Morata should get the nod as Chlesea head back to his native Spain.

"I would certainly consider picking Morata to lead the line with Eden Hazard and Willian behind. Morata can provide a target for Chelsea players to aim at and someone who can run in behind," wrote the former England midfielder in the 'London Evening Standard'.

"He can do that job more naturally than Hazard, who without the responsibility of playing up front can get more involved in the game himself.

"What Fernando Torres did in 2012 shows what a recognised striker can give you against Barcelona. There is that opportunity to play balls over the top to get out."

Torres ensured himself a place in Chelsea folklore by scoring a last-minute goal at the Camp Nou to sent Chelsea to the final, which they won, beating Bayern Munich on penalties.

Morata would no doubt relish a start against the Catalans, having previously represent their arch-rivals Real Madrid, but it remains to be seen if Conte agrees with 'Lamps'.
