'Corriere dello Sport' has unveiled an episode of the biography 'A mí manera' by Luka Modric, Croatian player of Real Madrid, which narrates an unknown event.
It is about a disagreement that José Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo had in 2013, during a Copa del Rey match.
Apparently, the Portuguese coach got angry with Cristiano for not pressing on a throw-in, which provoked a small fight that ended with the striker on the verge of tears.
"I was surprised by Mourinho's reaction. We were winning 2-0 in the Copa del Rey. Ronaldo didn't chase the opposition on his throw-in and Jose was furious with Cristiano. The two fought for a long time on the pitch," says the Croatian.
He adds: "When I returned to the dressing room at half-time, I saw Ronaldo in despair, on the verge of tears. He said: 'I'm doing the best I can and he keeps criticising me. Mourinho came in and started criticising the Portuguese for his responsibility during the game."
Such was the argument between the two Portuguese players that the team's heavyweights had to intervene to avoid a major setback: "Both got so hot that only the intervention of the team-mates prevented a real fight between them."
