Modric admits drop in form and promises Madrid improvement
Luka Modric was one of the Real Madrid players who came under fire for his below-par performances over the course of last season, and now the Croatian midfielder has spoken about his dip in form with Jorge Valdano on Spanish channel 'Vamos'.
"Going so far in the World Cup affected me physically and mentally. You can recover physically, but the mentally it's more difficult. I've had an inconsistent season and my career wouldn't have been complete without doing something with Croatia," said Modric.
The Real Madrid midfielder didn't hesitate to criticise his own performances, and was aware that he has not performed at the levels that saw him win the Ballon D'or last season: "I feel good, although this year hasn't been good and I admit it. I still have the strength to continue playing in Real Madrid and at the level that is demanded of me".
The Croat wanted to finish his interview by making it clear that he expects a marked improvement from 'Los Blancos' under Zinedine Zidane next season: "I expect a more competitive Real Madrid in all aspects and in all competitions".
