Mingueza: "Celta fit my style of play very well"

In the last few hours, Celta Vigo surprised everyone and announced the arrival of Oscar Mingueza as a new signing for next season. The full-back had no place in Xavi's plans at Barcelona and decided to sign for Celta.

"The style of football they play, attacking, pressing high, wanting to have the ball. It's a bit of what I was looking for, what fits my style of play and what I've been doing all my life because at Barcelona it's what they've taught us," said the defender, after signing his contract until June 2026.

In the same vein, he added: "Celta fit me well and I can adapt to them. It's going to be good for me, and I'm convinced that I'll be good for Celta too. I'm very excited about this opportunity.

"It's a team that can have years of being better or worse but it's always a team that are fighting for the top half of the table. It's a team, as far as I can remember, that has always played good football," said Mingueza.

The former Barcelona player will try to get back to his best for Eduardo Coudet's side, who have reportedly paid just 3 million euros for the versatile Catalan defender.
