Simon Mignolet hasn't had the easiest time during his time at Liverpool. The Belgian arrived from Sunderland to replace Pepe Reina back in 2013, and despite starting his Liverpool career in style with a penalty save on his debut, he enjoyed a rocky start to his time on Merseyside.
The Belgian has never really recovered from the impression that his first few seasons left on Liverpool fans. Despite improving as the years have gone on, he has been unable to win the faith of the fans, and this is a dangerous thing for a keeper to experience as, more than any other position, the goalkeeper requires confidence.
Jurgen Klopp brought in Loris Karius to challenge Mignolet for the number one spot in 2016, and after a long battle, it seems that the German has beaten the Belgian to the spot of first choice keeper for the 'Reds'.
Mignolet is now 30 years old, and it seems that, with around three or four years of his prime left, he is unwilling to become a benchwarmer just yet. As reported by the 'Daily Star', Mignolet wants out of Liverpool in summer, as he looks for a new challenge.
Various teams are linked, Napoli being one, but the English newspaper is reporting that Rafa Benitez's Newcastle are the latest to take interest. He has also been linked with another former Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, who is in charge of Scottish side Celtic.
