Messi to break his silence on the Anfield debacle

The Barcelona captain, the Argentinian international Lionel Messi, will appear this Friday (5pm) in the press room of the club's training ground, after not having done so for the last four years.

He is there because of the Copa del Rey final on Saturday against Valencia in Seville. Messi will be joined by another of the senior figures of the Barcelona side, Gerard Pique

Despite not having given a pre-match press conference for a long time (the last was on 5th May 2015 priot to a Barca-Bayern), he has frequently given post match interviews in La Liga and in the Champions League for the TV broadcaster, but not in the press room either at the Camp Nou or at the training ground.

Barcelona are not putting two of their senior players in front of the media just to speak about the cup final, but also to field questions on their Champions League elimination to Liverpool, the future of Ernesto Valverde as coach and potential signings such as Antoine Griezmann

As well as the two footballers, the coach Ernesto Valverde will also appear in front of the media at the Joan Gamper training ground.

After the media session, Barcelona will start training at 6pm. The first 20 minutes will be open to the media before the rest of it is behind closed doors.

Barcelona will head to Seville on Saturday at 10am and reach at around 11.45, around nine hours prior to kick off.

The match will kick off at 9pm and the team will return from Seville airport at 1am.
