There has been a lot of movement in the top scoring leaderboard after a host of candidates found the back of the net for their respective clubs across the continent at the weekend.
Lewandowski was pivotal in Bayern Munich’s 6-0 thumping of rivals Borussia Dortmund, scoring a hat-trick to take his league tally for the year to 26, while Immobile’s brace helped Lazio to a 6-2 win over Benevento in Serie A to sustain his goal push in Europe.
It means that Messi, despite coming off the bench to level things against Sevilla, has dropped out of the top two into fourth due to the deciding criteria of minutes played.
However, Mohamed Salah maintains his three-goal lead thanks to his important winner for Liverpool against Crystal Palace, securing a 2-1 victory and three points for the ‘Reds’.
Here are the standings for the Europe's Golden Boot (03-04-2018)
1.- Mohamed Salah (Liverpool, England) - 29 goals, 58 points.
2.- Robert Lewandowski (Bayern, Germany) - 26 goals, 52 points.
3.- Ciro Immobile (Lazio, Italy) - 26 goals, 52 points.
4.- Lionel Messi (Barcelona, Spain) - 26 goals, 52 points.
5.- Jonas (Benfica, Portugal) - 33 goals, 49.5 points.
6.- Mauro Icardi (Inter, Italy) - 24 goals, 48 points.
7.- Edinson Cavani (PSG, France) - 24 goals, 48 points.
8.- Harry Kane (Tottenham, England) - 24 goals, 48 points.
9.- Cristiano Ronaldo (Madrid, Spain) - 22 goals, 44 points.
10.- Sergio Aguero (Manchester City, England) - 21 goals, 42 points.
It must be remembered that for the Golden Boot, only the goals scored in the League count, and those marked in the Champions or in the cupper tournaments are not included.
To calculate the points, 'European Sports Media' awards a multiplier to each competition based on its position in the UEFA ranking. Thus, the five major leagues (Spain, France, Germany, England and Italy) multiply by two goals, and the less important leagues, such as the Portuguese, Dutch or Turkish leagues, to give three examples, multiply by 1.5. Minor leagues do not have a multiplication factor.
If two players finish with the same amount of points, the first tiebreaker criteria will be the least number of minutes played in their respective league championships.
