Messi on his retirement: "Playing until I'm 40? No, no, not either"

Leo Messi is 100% focused on the long-awaited World Cup in Qatar, which kicks off on Sunday 20th November. It is known that this will probably be the last World Cup that the Argentine star, who is a firm candidate to lift the World Cup with Argentina, will play in. 

Just a few days before the 'Albiceleste' makes their official debut against Saudi Arabia on 22nd November, Messi, along with former Argentina player Ezequiel Lavezzi, was interviewed for CONMEBOL by Cecilio Flematti. Among the many headlines that the Rosarino striker left us, the most striking is related to his possible retirement.

The 35-year-old Paris Saint-Germain attacker made it clear that he does not see himself playing until he is 40 and spoke openly about his future once he retires: "I suppose that after my retirement I will still be linked to the sport because I love football. I love playing it and I enjoy it. It was the only thing I did all my life and I guess I will be linked to football in the future, but I don't know...".

"Do you imagine playing until you're 40?" Flematti asked him,and the former Barcelona player replied: "No, no, neither do I. I always say that I don't see myself as a coach, it's not something I'm interested in, but maybe tomorrow I'll change my mind.

He added: "It's difficult to know what will happen tomorrow. Playing for Newell's was a dream I always had when I was a kid, to be able to play in Argentine football, to go to the pitch and want to be there. But now it depends on a lot of things, I have my family, three children, I just had a big change in my life that was very hard for me and my whole family. Today, I've overcome it and we feel great. We are already adapted to our new place.
