Messi named playmaker of the decade

Leo Messi has scored some memorable goals throughout his career. His moves are historic, but as well as scoring goals, he is as important when it comes to creating attacking play.
The IFFHS have named him playmaker of the decade. This award is given to the best creator of attacking play in the last 10 years. Barcelona have performed excellently and won plenty of titles in that time.
The Argentinian star won the prize in 2015. 2016, 2017 and 2019 and came second in 2011, 2014, 2018 and 2020. In addition, the second footballer in the rankings is a former teammate of his, Andres Iniesta.
Modric came third. Players like De Bruyne, Toni Kroos, Neymar and David Silva were among the top 20.
Other standout names from the list are Pirlo, Isco, Yaya Touré and Schweinsteiger. There are more Spaniards on the list than players from any other country (5). Thiago and Xavi are also on it.
